Day # 105

Last Friday we had some friends over and Tim and I went and tried to learn the waltz together. We tripped and messed up time and time again, but we had an amazing time. In the end, we didn't have it right, because I learned that I really didn't know how to waltz, so I had tried to teach myself a few days before. So we're going to have to try and find another time to work on it again. It was all in preparation for the homeschool ball which is next week and which I'm working on finishing that pink dress for, it should be done in the next day or so.

Day #11

Yay, so after five years of trying to convince me, my friend finally convinced me to go skiing. Yes, yesterday, Jenna went skiing and...loved it. It was amazing. Yes, I'm saying despite bruised shins and knees and overall stiffness. The view from one of the chairlifts was breathtaking. It was about half way through the 12 minute ride that my friend pointed behind us - we could see for miles and miles.

And yes, I'm going again. :D

Day #8

Well...I'm going to go skiing on Monday. I wasn't planning on this when I wrote the list, but my friend has been trying to convince me to go for years and so I added to my list. A few days later he brought it up again and so I said sure. So now I am going...and I'm very excited about it and I'll be able to check it off Monday.

Day #6

I meant to update this earlier, but I will now....

Day #5 - Tim taught me how to play the card game "Shanghai". We played with Jennifer and Lloyd for a little bit, unfortunately we didn't have time to get through more than two rounds. However, I got how to play it - so much so that when a wild was discarded I hastly announced that I'd buy it, Tim told Lloyd (it was his turn) that he wanted it and I clapped my hand...and my hand of cards across Tim's mouth to keep him from saying more, but it was too late. The funny thing was niether Jennifer nor Lloyd realized it was a wild until a round later and then understood what the big deal had been. Maybe Friday Tim and I can play it.

My 101 Things to Do in 1001 Days

The Mission:

Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days. The Criteria:Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part). Why 1001 Days? Many people have created lists in the past - frequently simple goals such as New Year's resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organising and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities. Some common goal setting tips:

1. Be decisive. Know exactly what you want, why you want it, and how you plan to achieve it.

2. Stay Focused. Any goal requires sustained focus from beginning to end. Constantly evaluate your progress.

3. Welcome Failure. Frequently, very little is learned from a venture that did not experience failure in some form. Failure presents the opportunity to learn and makes the success more worthy.

4. Write down your goals. It clarifies your thinking and reinforces your commitment.5. Keep your goals in sight. Review them frequently, and ensure that they are always at the forefront of your thinking.
